FAQ | WithinReach WA

Do you do direct service such as administer immunizations or hand out food in the summer?

No, we don’t provide direct services like administering vaccines or providing food directly to families. We do tell families where they can get vaccines or find food through our hotlines and websites.  Our role is to make it easier for families like yours to access services like WIC, Basic Food (food stamps), health insurance, food banks, family planning resources, breastfeeding support, etc. We keep on top of all the resources available through our partner organizations and can connect you to them quickly and easily through our call center and websites. Families are often surprised by how much support is available! Call us today to find out more at (800) 322-2588.

I think I qualify for WIC. Can I come to your clinic?

WithinReach is an independent not for profit organization (we are not a government agency), so we do not run individual WIC clinics. However, through our Resource Finder, we can quickly connect you to the one closest to you.You can also call us at (800) 322-2588 to find out if you qualify or have questions about WIC.

I don’t speak English. Can you help me?

Yes. When you call the WithinReach Family Health Hotline, you can speak with bilingual staff who speak Spanish and we use the AT&T Language Line to serve all other languages. ParentHelp123 is available in both Spanish and English.

I would like to breastfeed at work but am not sure this is possible. Can you help me?

You bet! We have a whole bunch of breastfeeding resources for new moms just like you.

Why do I need to vaccinate my children? Is there really a threat of them getting a disease like polio?

Vaccination protects your children – and our communities – from diseases that are still common, as well as those that are rare in the United States but are only a plane ride away. For example, measles was declared eliminated in the U.S. in 2000, but in the winter of 2014-2015, an outbreak that started in Disneyland led to 147 cases in seven states, including Washington. In 2012, Washington declared a statewide epidemic of whooping cough. Over the course of a year, over 4,915 cases of whooping cough were reported – more than any year since the 1940s!
