Bridge to Basics

What is Bridge to Basics?

WithinReach’s Bridge to Basics Program creates an in-person bridge to help connect families to crucial public benefits they need. Our staff and AmeriCorps Team, with the help of community volunteers, connect our clients with benefits information and application assistance.

Where are we?

Food banks, job training sites, DSHS offices and United Way’s free tax preparation sites represent just some of the over 60 sites we visit regularly throughout King and Snohomish Counties. We meet people where they’re at, allowing us to reach some of our region’s most underserved and vulnerable populations.

For information on when and where our staff will be next, please check out our Community Events Calendar.

What can we do?

During a visit clients can speak with our knowledgeable and friendly staff regarding the following nutrition and health programs:

  • Basic Food (i.e. SNAP or food stamps)
  • Free or low-cost health insurance
  • Local food banks
  • WIC
  • Summer Meals
  • Fresh Bucks

We are able to sign our clients up with Basic Food on the spot using electronic tablets- no appointments necessary! Our unique position as outreach staff allows us to advocate for our clients needs and make the application process easy, informative and accessible.

Who do we serve?

We work with individuals and families interested in learning more about free nutrition resources that can help them increase their access to fresh, whole foods for them or their family!

Many of our outreach team are bilingual and we aim to place staff with these skills in sites where they are most likely to interface with a population speaking the same language. When this is not possible we are prepared with materials in multiple languages and have access to the AT&T language line in order to serve our non-English speaking clients more effectively.
