The IACW has over 200 organizational members representing public and private sectors throughout the state. To learn more, take a look at our relationship chart and our conflict of interest policy. The IACW welcomes new members to partner with the Coalition’s efforts and goals. For more information or to get involved contact Sara Jaye Sanford, Immunization Coordinator at (206) 830-5175.
IACW has several committees that meet regularly, in addition to our quarterly meetings. These committees include:
The Public Awareness and Education Committee works to increase and sustain public awareness and education about the importance of immunizing across the lifespan, especially in pockets of greatest need. They meet quarterly on the second Wednesday of the month from 12pm-2pm.
The HPV Task Force brings together stakeholders from across sectors that are working to prevent cancer by improving our HPV immunization rates. Members include partners in cancer prevention, health education and communication, and healthcare providers. Meetings feature educational presentations and networking time. They meet quarterly on the third Wednesday of the month from 2-3:30pm.
The Policy Committee works to develop and support an evidence-based framework for immunization policy in Washington. We have supported recent changes in Washington’s school immunization exemption policy and the development of our universal purchase system for childhood vaccines. Meetings are periodic and we also offer email updates to anyone interested in staying current on developments in Washington’s immunization policies – contact Sara Jaye Sanford to sign up or learn more.
The Executive Committee serves as a steering committee for IACW and its subcommittees. The Executive Committee supports increasing immunization coverage rates of infants, children, adolescents and adults in Washington State with a focus on education, collaboration, and advocacy. Current Executive Committee members include: Jenny Arnold, Washington State Pharmacy Association (IACW co-chair); Sallie Davis-Kirsch, Seattle Children’s Hospital; Neil Kaneshiro, Woodinville Pediatrics (IACW co-chair); Steve Dresang, Swedish Medical Group; Todd Faubion, WithinReach; Rita Mell, Snohomish Health District; Kris Moore, Group Health Cooperative (Healthcare Provider Education Committee chair); Mary O’Leary, Snohomish Health District (Public Awareness & Education Committee chair); Libby Page, Public Health – Seattle & King County; Michele Roberts, Washington State Department of Health; Cindy Smith, Tacoma Pierce County Health Department; and Paul Throne, Washington State Department of Health.
The Healthcare Provider Education Committee creates tools and resources to help immunizers implement best practices and provide the best immunization services to their patients. They meet quarterly on the third Wednesday of the month from 10-11:30am.
