General Job Description:
The primary responsibility of the Prenatal Care Outreach Project Coordinator is to work with the Maternal and Infant Health (MIH) section of Department of Health (DOH) and WithinReach to address the following MIH project goals:
- Increase knowledge and understanding of the importance of early and on-going prenatal care by pregnant women throughout Washington.
- Increase access to prenatal medical care and First Steps Maternity Support Services (MSS) providers among pregnant women, especially women with First Steps coverage.
- Increase ability of prenatal care and First Steps providers to find resources for their patients.
- Increase awareness of the MSS program among pregnant women and medical providers.
Project work will incorporate WithinReach’s existing programs, including the Family Health Hotline and ParentHelp123.org as well as and other technologies and tools.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in public health, nursing, nutrition, health education, social work, or a related field; project management experience; community-based health promotion experience, knowledge of maternal and child health resources. Experience and competence communicating and working with health professionals and diverse groups within the general public, particularly low-income women of childbearing age, infants, toddlers, and adolescents
Primary Responsibilities:
- Research the feasibility of using online tools to connect pregnant women to prenatal care providers and MSS program services.
- Enhance the ParentHelp123.org content to meet project objectives.
- Conduct consumer research to identify and recommend ways to improve awareness of MSS and the importance of prenatal care among Medicaid-eligible pregnant women, increase access to prenatal care and MSS services, and market WithinReach’s resources for pregnant women.
- Develop an evaluation plan for this project.
- Plan and begin to implement a campaign to market WithinReach services to medical and MSS providers. Work with MSS providers to identify ways WithinReach or DOH can help them increase awareness of MSS and the importance for prenatal care.
- Identify and assess viability of additional ways MIH can build on WithinReach’s programs to increase knowledge and understanding of the importance of prenatal care and preconception health; increase access to prenatal care and MSS services; and increase awareness of MSS.
- Other duties as assigned.
This position requires access to a car and a valid driver’s license.
