WithinReach Awarded New Grants

 The Seattle Foundation - $30,000

WithinReach has received a $30,000 grant from The Seattle Foundation to support general operating expenses.  The grant will be used to conduct a thorough assessment of our current technologies -- including our network, telephone system, personal computers, electronic communication methods, and websites. This assessment will be used to develop change management strategies, including routine technology planning, life cycle management, maintenance support and staff training and development.

Washington Dental Service Foundation (WDSF) - $75,000

Activities funded by this grant will expand identification and enrollment of low-income young children in the state’s Access to Baby and Child Dentistry (ABCD) Program.  ABCD focuses on early prevention services, oral health education and linkage to a dental home for low-income infants and children, 0-5, throughout Washington.

The WDS Foundation award will be used to add ABCD program and eligibility information to ParentHelp123.org.  Parents will be able to use ParentHelp123.org to find ABCD Program information, self-screen for eligibility in the program, and access other oral health resources.  “This is an important step in the growth of the ABCD program in Washington State, by identifying and reaching eligible children and increasing ABCD enrollment statewide,” said Washington Dental Service Foundation CEO Laura Smith in announcing the award. “We look forward to working with WithinReach to connect more low-income families with oral health services.”

Department of Early Learning - $8,750

The grant will be used to inform the development of ParentHelp123.org.  In partnership with the East Yakima Early Learning Initiative and Kids Connect, WithinReach will facilitate focus groups among outreach workers, case managers, other provider groups and families to determine key components for website expansion.

The goal of the project is to expand the utility of ParentHelp123.org, as well as to help the Yakima’s Kids Connect effort to link more children with health care providers.  Grant funds will also be used to explore the possibility of using ParentHelp123.org in training families to use the Internet and other computer applications.
