Mark your calendars for our annual spring luncheon! We hope you will join us this year as we celebrate health, hope, and the many people who contribute to a strong and vibrant community.
In 2011, WithinReach connected over 255,000 families with essential resources including, prenatal care, food, and health insurance. Your support at this year's luncheon is crucial to our continued work.
Online registration will begin in February. In the meantime, spread the word to your friends and colleagues to save the date!
If you have questions or would like to volunteer as table captain, please contact Fund Development Director Jennifer Moore at (206) 830-7640 or email jenniferm@withinreachwa.org.
WithinReach announced the winners of the gift card prizes for its “Calling All Cute Washington Babies” campaign. The campaign invited parents across Washington State to submit a favorite video or photo of their baby in their proudest moment. We received more than 100 submissions of cute babies from around the State. Some of the video and photo entries will be used in the first-ever online commercial for ParentHelp123.org, a program of WithinReach and an online resource that connects Washington families to health and food assistance. “Thank you to all the parents who took the time to send us their great videos and photos ,” says Health Promotion Program Manager JoAnn Manke. “We are looking forward to unveiling the final commercial and sharing it with everyone!”
WithinReach is recruting for a bilingual (Spanish and English) Information and Referral Specialist to join our team.
Information and Referral Specialists (IRS) provide information and referral services to families throughout Washington State by determining potential eligibility for health insurance, cash, food and childcare assistance programs; and connecting callers to other resources within their communities.
WithinReach is seeking an accomplished, action-oriented leader to serve as its new Executive Director. WithinReach has an outstanding reputation for high quality, effective program delivery, and an extremely dedicated staff and Board, deeply committed to improving family health throughout Washington State. The new Executive Director will lead the agency in enhancing its already excellent reputation and in developing new ways to expand its capacity to reach Washington families
Last month, WithinReach had the honor of hosting a visit by Dr. Paul Dworkin, Director of Help Me Grow’s National Center. Dr. Dworkin is Professor and Chair of Pediatrics at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and Physician in Chief at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center. Based on his extensive work with children and families and a grant from the Kellogg Foundation, he established the Help Me Grow National Center. The center supports the building of HMG systems so that states can implement effective, universal, early surveillance and screening for all children and link those at risk for developmental and behavioral problems to appropriate programs and services.
In 2012, WithinReach will launch a teen-focused sister website to ParentHelp123.org called WashingTeenHelp.org. The new website will connect teens to health information, state benefit programs and community-specific health resources.
WashingTeenHelp.org is being developed with a focus on pregnant and parenting teens in Washington, but will offer valuable information and resources for all teens, including topics such as relationships, dating violence, general and sexual health, pregnancy, parenting, legal resources and planning your future.
WithinReach is delighted to announce we have received a very generous $50,000 grant from The Boeing Company. This funding will directly help Snohomish County families connect with vital health care, nutritious food, and other critical resources for family health and stability. We are deeply grateful to The Boeing Company for their dedication to ensuring health for all Washington families.
This funding enables WithinReach to expand our Bridge to Basics program to serve families in Snohomish County. The Bridge to Basics program provides in-person support to people in need of food and health care assistance ― when, where, and how they need it.
Executive Director Patty Hayes announced this week that she is leaving WithinReach to join Public Health Seattle-King County as their new Community Health Service Division Director effective February 1, 2012.
“It was a hard decision for me to leave, especially with so many exciting developments underway,” says Hayes. “However, I am confident that WithinReach will come out of this transition stronger than ever. It has been a rare privilege to work with such a committed group of people. I will remain an ardent advocate for this organization and will continue to support its mission to improve the health of Washington families.”
The Board of Directors Executive Committee will serve as the search committee during the transition. They plan to engage an executive search firm to recruit Hayes’ successor.
