As a teacher, fundraiser, advocate, and visionary, Cynthia F. Shurtleff has spent the better part of her life working to improve the lives of children and families. In the mid-1980's, when local leadership asked Cynthia to help start a Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies coalition in Washington, her answer was clear. "You bet!" she said, firmly, "The only way to improve maternal-infant health is through collaboration and partnerships."

In the 20 years since, Cynthia has served with stamina, wisdom and leadership, helping to build the now multi-faceted organization known as WithinReach. To many, she is the founding mother of WithinReach.

In celebration of her role as our new honorary chair, WithinReach has created The Cynthia Circle for our strongest supporters— those who make a gift of $1,000 or more. Founding members of The Cynthia Circle will be recognized on a plaque to be displayed in the WithinReach office and be invited to attend a unique event in honor of Cynthia.
