Thanks to everyone who participated in our 2011 Making Connections for Health Luncheon―our most successful and best attended luncheon yet! We are so grateful to our wonderful sponsors, dedicated table captains and over 400 guests who attended the event. We are especially grateful to Washington State Health Officer Maxine Hayes, who graciously emceed the event.
The luncheon raised more than $115,000 to help families in Washington connect with health and hope. We introduced one of our families served through a special video. Please watch Maisy and Shaun’s story here:
You can also watch a slideshow of luncheon photos here. You are sure to see some familiar faces!
The luncheon is also the time when we present our annual awards, recognizing key leaders in our community. The Cynthia F. Shurtleff Leadership Award was presented by to Linda Hull. Known for effective problem-solving, Linda has lent her expertise in government relations to improve the lives of families across our state. Her tireless and strategic efforts have helped WithinReach develop a strong presence in Olympia.
We were also proud to name United Way of King County as recipient of the WithinReach Partner Award. We are very proud to partner with UWKC on the successful Bridge to Basics Nutrition Outreach program, providing person-to-person nutrition and health resource outreach for vulnerable families. As a leading partner of many local human service organizations, United Way of King County facilitates collaboration, fostering a stronger community and developing innovative approaches to better serve families.
